Now that Windows XP’s support from Microsoft is officially over as of April 8th, it’s time to upgrade. I highly recommend Windows 7 across the board, for any PC. Some Windows XP and Vista computers can easily and cost effectively be upgraded with a solid state drive and have Windows 7 loaded & running on them without breaking a sweat. This is a very cheap and easy way to keep existing hardware from going to landfills and squeezing some more life out of your trusty computer.

It is very important to upgrade from XP as soon as possible since it is now vulnerable to a myriad of new Trojans, viruses, malware, and unwanted software from the Internet. It has now become a “swiss cheese” operating system that is just going to get harder and harder to maintain and keep secure with third party software. Our official stance here at Neuron Computers is we cannot support unsupported Operating Systems. This includes all Windows versions leading up to and before XP, such as Windows 95/98/2000/ME and now XP.

We at Neuron Computers have many affordable options for moving away from XP. The good news is we can make this process very painless as most programs and data can easily be backed up, and transferred to the new OS or new PC. Of course, the bad news is Windows 7 will reach end-of-life in 2020. By then, let’s hope the debacle of Windows 8/8.1 will have been fixed.
